Finances: Payment, Fees, Gift Certificates & Tips
Payment is due in full at the time of service.
Accepted forms of payment: cash, credit/debit cards, checks, and Flex Spending/HSA cards (when applicable). Tips are not allowed with Flex Spending/HSA cards.
A 50% non-refundable sitting/booking fee is required for all appointments and is applied toward the final cost of the massage at the time of service. If you late-cancel or do not show, this fee may be forfeited.
A $25.00 fee will be charged for any returned checks. Future services may be required to be paid with cash or card only.
Gift certificates may be used as payment according to the posted Gift Card Policy. Gift certificates are not redeemable for cash, except where required by law.
Gratuities (tips) are never required but are appreciated. Tips cannot be placed on a gift certificate balance.
Cancellation, No-Show & Lateness
If you are unable to keep your appointment, you must provide at least 24 hours’ notice.
Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice or no-shows may be charged up to the full cost of the scheduled service or result in forfeiture of the booking fee.
Arriving late will shorten your hands-on time so that we may honor the schedule for other clients. Full session fees still apply for late arrivals.
Mind-Altering Substances
For your safety and mine, clients must not be under the influence of alcohol or any mind-altering substance (including illegal drugs and misused prescription medications) at the time of the session.
If you arrive under the influence, the session will be terminated immediately, and you may still be charged for the full session. Future appointments may be refused.
Inappropriate Client Behavior
Any request for sexual activity, sexualized comments, gestures, or exposure will not be tolerated.
Such behavior will result in immediate termination of the session, full payment due, and no further appointments will be scheduled.
Incidents may be treated as solicitation and will be reported to the proper authorities. Trespass or further legal action may be pursued if needed to protect the therapist and the business.
Hygiene Requirements
Clients are expected to arrive clean and showered, with good personal hygiene.
Please inform the therapist of any cuts, rashes, infections, or open wounds. These areas will be avoided.
If hygiene is poor or a contagious condition is suspected, the therapist may refuse or terminate the session, and applicable cancellation fees may apply.
Ambiance: Noise, Children, Food & Guests
Noise must be kept at a normal, respectful talking level to preserve a relaxing environment.
Children under 16 are not permitted in the massage area unless they are the scheduled client and accompanied by a parent/guardian for consent.
Extra guests are generally not allowed in the treatment room unless pre-approved for medical or accessibility reasons.
Food is not permitted in the treatment room. Water is allowed.
Communication & Health Information
It is the client’s responsibility to inform the massage therapist of:
Any current medical treatment, injuries, surgeries, or conditions
Any changes in health, medications, or doctor’s recommendations
Massage therapy is not a substitute for medical care. Clients should consult their physician for diagnosis and treatment of any medical condition.
If you are ill, have a fever, or have a contagious condition, you must reschedule your session. The therapist may refuse service if illness is suspected.
Confidentiality
All health information and discussions between the client and the massage therapist are treated as confidential, except when disclosure is required by law (for example, to protect you or others from harm).
The client may choose to talk or remain quiet during the session; both are acceptable and respected.
Scope of Practice
The massage therapist practices within the laws and regulations of the state of Michigan.
The massage therapist does not diagnose medical conditions, does not prescribe medications, and does not interfere with or contradict a physician’s treatment plan.
Recommendations made (stretches, self-care, frequency of sessions, etc.) are suggestions, not medical prescriptions.
Dual Relationships & Professional Boundaries
The massage therapist maintains professional boundaries at all times.
The massage therapist will not enter into romantic, sexual, or other dual relationships with clients.
If a dual relationship already exists (family, close friend, etc.), both parties must understand that professional boundaries will be strictly maintained during sessions. Services may be declined if the relationship conflicts with ethical practice.
